What is the suggestion?: I propose a new system of /rolling that works based on several "skills" available to each class. I worked with Galaxy on the code responsible and confirmed that it's 100% doable. Each skill would be selectable in the suit zoom's context menu. To roll using a skill, simply click on it in the context menu which does /roll and posts the skill's RB into chat.
How will it benefit the server?: Having a more elaborate roll system will allow us more in-depth passiveRP, as well as cleaning up the mess that is CombatRP.
Strength
A Measure of physical abilities. - Combat RB - Physical Ability RB - Anomalous Penalty (replaces seperate RB against SCPs, instead applies a penalty to your roll.)
Evasion Your ability to move quickly to evade incoming attacks and get out of sticky situations. - Dodging / Reflecting - Anomalous Penalty
Memetics
Your ability to contest memetic hazards.
- Memetic Resistance
- Memetic Ability (exclusive to the likes of 035 and 953)
Career Knowledge The experience you have from your character's history.
- MedRP
- TechRP
- ResearchRP
Constitution How durable your body is against internal and external threats. - Physical durability (can be used in place of evasion depending on your class, suffers no Anomalous penalty)
Charisma
Your ability to impose your will on others.
- Intimidation - Charm
- Fear Resistance
General
General, unspecialized /roll usage for PassiveRP and other uses.
Strength | A measure of physical abilities. *Combat Ability: Your competence in close-quarter combat. * Physical Ability: Your physical fitness and well-being. * Suffers a penalty to your roll when facing an anomaly.
Dexterity | A measure of control you have over your body’s movements. * Dodging/Reflecting: Your ability to mitigate incoming attacks. * Sleight of Hand: Your hand-to-eye coordination and moving without being seen. * Suffers a penalty to your roll when facing an anomaly.
Constitution | How durable your body is against internal and external threats. * Physical Durability: Your ability to endure pain and damage. May be used in place of Dodging. * Death Defiance: Your ability to stay alive during your darkest moments.
Charisma | Your ability to impose your will on others. * Intimidation: How likely you are to induce fear or compliance. * Charm: Your ability to smooth-talk and socialize.
Memetics | Your ability to contest memetic hazards. * Memetic Resistance: A measure of endurance your senses can take against memetic hazards. * Memetic Ability: A measure of your Memetic power. Usually exclusive to anomalies.
Career Knowledge | Non-combative experience your character has from their history. * Medical Ability: Your competence as a medical practitioner * Technical Ability: Your competence in engineering or technical abilities. * Research Ability: Your competence with scientific practices.
Strength “+20 to Combat Ability, +20 to Physical Ability. No penalty against Anomalies” -- Similar to current RBs
Dexterity “+15 to Dodging or Reflecting, +15 to Sleight of Hand. No penalty against Anomalies.” -- Slightly lower than current RB, making the aggressor more advantageous.
Constitution “+20 to Physical Durability, +30 to Death Defiance.” -- On par with current RB. Constitution can be used in place of Dexterity for contesting CombatRP, but consequences may come from that. SID have really good Death Defiance RB because they drop like flies.
Charisma “+10 to Intimidation, +5 to charm, +20 to overcoming fear.” -- not directly linked with any current RBs. Intimidation is usually easier than charming someone. SID have a decent RB to overcoming fear.
Memetics “+20 to Memetic Resistance, unable to channel memetic abilities.” -- SID have high memetic resistance by default.
Career Knowledge “No bonuses to Career Knowledge.”
Note that im currently using this system for determining rolls: 5+ = Hobby 10+ = Trained 15+ = Proficient 20+ = Expert 25+ = Master 30+ = Peak Human Performance Over 30 = Anomalous
To be completely honest, the gamemode itself is very non-player friendly as it is and this would just add to it. It's a cool concept and would work amazingly if we were closer based to DnD but unfortunately the XYZ gamemode isn't like that and very complicated (as I'm sure you know). The current roll bonuses system we have and are working on right now will do perfectly in my opinion.

One of the options in the context menu can be to print a simple tutorial of the roll system into console, being my "elaboration" post above. Additionally, I don't see how "Roll for Strength, please." is so much more complicated than "Roll, please." that it'd alienate a majority of gmod players. It'd probably be a breath of fresh air since it's a more in-depth and immersive system than what most servers have, that being simply /roll.
On top of this, if this gets accepted we could introduce the idea of "character build" auths, where players can pick and choose what specific stats they want increased, at the cost of lowering another. For example, someone can choose to get a boost in consitution, at the cost of taking a hit to their dexterity. Research characters who handle mindfuck SCPs like 035 and 953 can slowly build up their tolerance, represented by gradual increases to their memetic resistance bonus. Having an elaborate system like this opens up a lot of doors. The XYZ gamemode isnt a roadblock because this type of rolling system is a more stand-alone feature.
Overall, I really like the idea of what character YOU want to play as overall.
Again, character auth's could be made for special events that would build tolerance over time and increase as your character became more experiences, and I think it would be a really fucking cool addition to this server.

+Support A middle ground between the two of you is that the more in depth roll bonuses could be used for tests, events, semi cannon scenarios, and cannon breaches while normal bonuses are used for things like combat RP and other things that wont have as much RP mod coverage. Overall though being able to make an auth for a character build and make them unique would be very interesting in its own right.
