# L547fvGnDufw2KBEChances are if you're here then you want to learn how to PassiveRP and develop your character instead just being somebody who only knows all the knowledge to get promoted.
Lucky for you, PassiveRP is the most simple yet effective way achieve this!
Part 1: The art of the /me
/me is a very useful command, especially if you don't have a microphone. /me can make your character go from
"Why did you just do that?"
To
Sergeant Smith slowly approaches the senior officer, a puzzled look on his face, before asking in a baffled voice, "Why did you do that?"
Or perhaps
Sergeant Smith rapidly approaches the senior officer, a look of disappointment quickly covers his visage. He rests his hands on his hips. "Why did you just do that?"
But its best used when conversing casually with other people, allowing such things as,
FMO Hurst leans back against the wall, letting out a short sigh. "God my feet are killing me, how about you, Johnson?"
Compare this to just simply talking with somebody while sitting in a corner. Much better, right? Speaking of corners, this seems like a good segue into my next point....
Part 2: Don't just sit in a corner!!!
When there's nothing going on, a lot of people like to just run around or stand in a corner doing nothing, waiting for anything to go down. Well what if I told you that there are really cool RP areas for people like security and D-Class! Have any of you taken the time to sit down in the LCZ breakdown during a code green and take a load off? Maybe stop and talk to a janitor while he's picking up supplies from a closet? Or maybe even made some food for yourself in the EZ cafeteria? Probably not, but these are all great places to do some passive stuff, and potentially talk to someone in your division, allowing you to create cool IC connections! Even for D-Class, they have bookshelves, chess tables, a basketball court, and if security is feeling kind of enough to actually feed them, the opportunity to talk to some of your fellow D-Class while having a meal. Pretty cool, right? Even something simple as using the firing range to improve your recoil control is a million times better than waiting around hoping someone does an event, because many people don't realize that Canon events aren't the only thing you can use to add to your character profile. Just take a second to look around, and you'll find something to do, trust me.
Part 3: Forumssssss
The forums have a good bit of information that your character can see ICly. Have access to someone's profile? Read up on it and use it in conversations with them. See an incident report that has information missing and you have access to it? Reply ICly and fill in the gaps. Need to talk to someone about something and they're not on area? Send them an E-Mail! There's a fair amount of things the forums are good for outside of occasionally checking on an application you put in!
Part 4: SCPs have personalities too
SCP-912 is an extraordinarily versatile SCP when it comes to little details in how you play it's role. Walking up to someone holding a weapon out off safety and sparking your stun stick is not nearly as effective as using
SCP-912 forcefully lowers the officers weapon, pointing at its selector switch while reaching for its cuffs.
And thats not even scratching the surface. Walking with set patrol patterns or making sharp turns at intersections rather than rounding off your turns gives a more automaton feel and sells the idea that you are a strict set of sentient armor rather than somebody playing a glorified police officer.
This extends out to SCPs such as 049 and 082 as well. They have very particular ways they act. 049 isn't dead set on having skin to skin contact with everybody he meets, he's a doctor, so if you encounter someone capable of intelligent conversation, talk to them. Converse about things such medicinal practices or the importance of scientific research. Doing these kinds of things can maybe even sway someone's IC view of 049, and create an SCP that security may genuinely enjoy being around rather than some nuisance that needs a patient every now and again.
Or 082, who when he has guests, talks about how they feel, what are their interests, is the food good? What's their plan for life, etc etc.
Thats all for now, ill update this later when I have time, but for now, go do things with this information
Security Chief Horno - Still somehow alive
"How am I not dead yet??"
Vault Security Agent Muller - Alive
"Well, I got that promotion."
